Top Wyoming Events for 2014!

When it comes to special events, fairs and festivals, Wyoming  has something for everyone. Whether it's honoring food, history, heritage, or one of the four seasons, Wyoming’s  celebrations are known for their authentic charm. The following is just a sample of the events taking place year round.

International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race

January 31 - February 8, 2014  Across Wyoming / Utah

Similar to the Tour de France, the race stops in a different town each night.  The race spans eight stage stops and four states, traveling nearly 350 miles.  Founded in 1996 by Frank Teasley to make sled dog racing more accessible to the public, the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race is high-action sled dog race, traveling through multiple western Wyoming communities, offering plenty of opportunity for viewing these incredible dogs in action. 30 teams from all over the world to compete in the event.  Festivities, from bonfires, fireworks, live music to food and drink in every community along the route beginning in Jackson, Wyoming and ending in Park City, Utah highlight the event. Elk Fest, Antler Sale and Auction

May 17-18, 2014  in Jackson, Wyoming

Every spring, thousands of elk wintering on the National Elk Refuge lose their antlers before migrating to summer range. The Boy Scouts harvest the antlers, auctioning them to bidders from around the world who craft them into furniture, light fixtures, jewelry, and more.  A weekend of activities built around the Antler Sale and Auction, Elkfest provides exciting opportunities to celebrate nature, outdoor skills, hunting and ecological education and awareness.  Visit: www.jacksonholechamber.com

Woodchopper’s Jamboree & Rodeo

June 14-15, 2014  in Encampment, Wyoming

For this 54th  annual event, the chips fly during Father's Day weekend in Encampment as loggers come from all over the country to compete for the title of Rocky Mountain Champion Lumberjack.  Using power saws, axes and hand saws, men and women competitors cut down “trees”, chop logs and saw squared wood blocks in half, racing the clock for the fastest time.  Cowboys ride bulls and broncs.  This unique Wyoming event assures a good time will be had by all.  Visit: www.saratogachamber.info

1838 Mountain Man Rendezvous

July 2-6, 2014  in Riverton, Wyoming

Founded in 1989 for the express purpose of preserving a rare historical landmark, the 1838 Rendezvous Association continues working toward that goal. Mountain men left no physical trace of their lives upon the western landscape and this event is dedicated to the men, women and children who moved so lightly upon the world that only the land and the river remain as a witness to those shining times.  Held each year during the first week of July, on the site of the original 1838 Rendezvous, this event features a week-long re-creation of the trappers and traders’ encampment, games of skills, food, dancing and entertainment.  Visit: www.1838rendezvous.com

Cody Stampede

July 1,2,3,4 - 2014  in Cody, Wyoming

Since the turn of the century, rodeos and parades have been part of the Fourth of July here in Cody, Wyoming. For 90 plus years, starting officially in 1919, the Cody Stampede Rodeo has been held every summer. 2013 marks the 94th anniversary of the nightly performances. These two events establish Cody as not only one of the longest running successful professional rodeos, but also the only place in the country that has a rodeo performance nightly. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association named the Cody Stampede "Best Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year" in 1998 and 1999. In 2001 the Cody Nite Rodeo was nominated for "Best Small Outdoor Rodeo of the Year". Night after night, Cody proves that we are rodeo, all summer long! . Visit: www.codystampederodeo.com

Cheyenne Frontier Days

July 18 - 27, 2014   in Cheyenne, Wyoming

Cheyenne's world-class rodeo is truly the Daddy of 'em All. Known for its fast pace and large number of contestants, the CFD rodeo ensures that visitors see more rodeo action - three sections of bulls, and two sections of saddle and bareback broncs daily - than they can see at any other rodeo. A tradition for 113 years and billed as the World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo & Western Celebration. Events include fast-paced professional rodeos, four parades, three free pancake breakfasts, wild horse races, night shows, Indian Village with free Indian dances, carnival midway, and USAF Thunderbird air show. It is one of the largest fairs in the state with over 6,000 exhibits, top-notch entertainers, concerts and fireworks. Visit: www.sweetwaterevents.com

River Festival

August 16 & 17, 2013 in Green River, Wyoming
